Christmas Project

This assignment will include many of the activites you have completed in Photoshop to date, including layers. Make sure you read all of the directions before starting the project because some of the items you can do at one time instead of having to select that item again.

  1. Go into Photoshop and click on open and go into the:
  2. You will save the picture after you create a new folder in your multi-media folder called Christmas_Project. Save the photo in the Christmas_Project folder with the name Christmas_Project_yourname. Make sure to save it as a PSD (photoshop) file. Your folders should look like the following:
  3. When opened and saved, change the resolution by going to Image, Image Size, and change the resolution to 300 (not 72). This picture will be your background picture.
  4. Put the fire inside the fireplace.
  5. You will need to pick one or more of the garland and use it somewhere on the fireplace for decoration.
  6. You will need to include two stockings (facing different directions) with one on each side of the fireplace.
  7. Inside the stockings you need to include two items (bear, doll, candy cane, gingerbread, etc.).
  8. Use some decoration to fill the empty space above the fireplace mantle.
  9. Use some decoration to fill the empty spots to the side of the fireplace.
  10. Be sure to rename each layer for easy identification.

Use your imagination and make it look good. The more imagination you use the greater the chance of extra credit.

NOTE: To be able to work with a different layer, you must select that layer. The items inside the stockings need to have their layers below the stocking layer or they won’t look like they are inside.

Make sure to use the following tools: magic wand (inverse selection), lasso (magnetic, regular, polygonal), eraser (background, regular, magic), move (using transform and selection box to use rotation, flips, etc.), and a clone stamp. You might consider a layer mask or fine tuning the layer with layer style adjustments.
