Photoshop Chapter 3: In the Lab 2

Problem: A local tourist company has hired you to create its latest brochure about beautiful beaches. You encounter a photo that is plain to use in the brochure. You decide to add some more items to the photo and prepare it for print in the brochure.

Instructions:

  1. Be sure and read the Problem above. You need to know why you are working on this project in pretend world.
  2. Start Photoshop. Set the default workspace and reset all tools.
  3. Go to the Photoshop Chapter 3 shared folder and select the Beach_assignment folder. Right click on it and copy it to your ps_lesson_3 folder.
  4. You are to then open the Beach.jpg image in Photoshop.
  5. (5 points) After you open the file in Photoshop, you are to save it in your Documents, in the ps_lesson_3 folder as beach_edited. Click the Format box arrow and click PSD in the list. Click the Save button. If Photoshop displays a Format Options dialog box, click the OK button.
  6. Use the Navigator palette to zoom the photo to 100 magnification, if necessary.
  7. You are to use the skills you have learned to date to add the additional images from the Beach_assignment folder to the beach image:
  8. (6 points) Place a picture of you somewhere in the picture large enough that the instructor knows it is you. Have fun and be creative with it.
  9. (12 points) Be sure and name/color all of your layers
  10. You are to add a text layer with your name on it. Be creative with it.
  11. Save the photo again
  12. (4 points) You are to submit two images, a jpeg and a psd.
  13. (This step only if your instructor is present) Go to File and Print. You will preview the document for your instructor to see instead of printing. Raise your hand and wait patently for your instructor to view your document.

Beach
