School History
- The Tina-Avalon school cost $255,976 when it was built between 1953-55.
- The Tina and Avalon districts annexed to each other in January of 1952.
- Approximately 300 students attended, K-12th, its first year.
*The school originally received its water supply from a well 346 feet deep.
- Before the two schools consolidated, the Avalon mascot was the Wildcats
and Tina was the Tigers.
- Avalon's colors were purple and gold, Tina's were yellow and black.
- The school was closed in 1974 four days due to a meningitis scare.
- T-A's gymnasium holds approximately 1,200 people.
- On October 23, 1983, a night watchman was shot and killed during a robbery.
- In the summer of 1993, the playground was rebuilt by adding new swing sets, a new jungle gym, and a dome.
- In the fall of 1996, the school added three new class rooms, consisting of a library, math room, and a technology room.
- The 1997-1998 school year was the start of the ITV college courses with Bosworth, Hale, Stet, Breckenridge, and Southwest.
- The 1998-1999 school year was started with 12 new Apple computers for the computer lab and the library.
- The T-A school district once stretched as far as the Grand River south of Chillicothe.
- The Tina-Avalon High-School boys team made history in 2002 by having the best record of all times with a record of 23-6, having advanced further than any other team (boys or girls) to the State 1A Quarter finals, and having the first T-A male make the 1A All-State Team.
- The year 2004 was the 50th anniversary of the Tina-Avalon School!!
- The 2019 CLAA Tournament was cancelled due to extreme cold and ice. The Monday night games were the only games played.
